Thank You Card After Interview Dental Hygiene

Post scriptum - Interview with Jerzy

George Rzymowski reveals couldnt work in the editorial office and the Magic Sword, talks about relationships in fandom, the reactions to the appearance of the letter A portal about their stories, experiences and projections of market-related role-playing games. It was my first such interview. Mailowałem with George for a few weeks by sending additional questions. As a beginner I was a little scared rednacz the fact that I chose to spend their time. I remember the interview with niekrytą satisfaction. I invite you to read this fascinating story in March 2002.

For a long time you were the editor of magic and sword, but not only there, you can find your lyrics. With stories about General Grieg met in the Legend. Milosz also Wsparłeś project - think of the labyrinth 6, and I heard that you had ties to the Crow ... If you can, zoom, and my readers ERPEGOWCA your body. Write about the projects you have taken and are taking part. About his work ...

will try to sort chronologically - otherwise probably so lost. My debut was a scenario Monastery Images, "which appeared In March 1995, in "Labyrinth" # 2 Over the next two years I wrote a little bit to the MiM-a - articles and screenplays. It was not much, but I always have a terrible problem with the collection of the writing. In '96, on the buddies of the WKF "Pegasus" we took part in filming for the series TVP1 holiday programs for children, pt. Hunters adventures - we laugh, it was the first Polish reality show. For good and all started in '97 was when I joined the club Tfurców and "Phoenix" went my first story - "good deed", then I quit my studies, then became editor of that for you "Crow", I wrote back then article "From arsenic to the snake," which opened the door for me to work in MiM-e.

In '98 I wrote the story for the "Legends" - the first of them, "The price of peace", is probably the worst thing I wrote. But he was also "Assassin" and "Grieg" and subsequent articles in subsequent issues of the letter. In the spring of this year, I was editor of the MiM-a - a great merit in this Milosz Brzezinski, after which inherited the department of communication with our readers. Was leading the department for two years and I really liked the job. At the same time created a series of essays written under the pseudonym Postscript and "Fantastic Music, which was reborn in a slightly different form on the site Valkiria.

Later I received communications department - the rest had lasted more than a year and a half downhill. I owe a great gratitude to all the people who helped me during this time to function in MiM-e, and especially Tom Wolski, Michael Mochockiemu, Arthur Machlowskiemu, Michael Stachyrze (Puszonowi). I ended it all when Tom Kreczmar released me from the "sword and sorcery." Justification was: "Unfortunately, I come to the sad conclusion that it speaks not in the editorial office. I think that we just have a different approach to work, to the chief-subordinate relationships and to stosunkowania to current conditions. Therefore, I believe that we have to part ways when it comes to your collaboration with MiM-I as an editor. "Let there be: the content of this explanation is true - but we totally different interpretation of it.

Along the way, I wrote a few things to" Inferno "and the biweekly" Click. "I also had the pleasure of writing for the" Phantom ". I did some translation - some newer edition of" call of Cthulhu "comics for Egmont and the novel" The World Camelot "for publishing Philip Wilson - the latter has not yet appeared. Appeared to be a compendium Twurcuf Club, pt. "We make a revolution," and I joined a few years ago as a member of the Association of Polish Writers of Fantasy. Well, of course, was "Labyrinth" # 6, which, like Milo, I am very proud of - the circumstances in which my writings were created for him are pretty funny.

Currently, my activity has drastically decreased. For several months I was unemployed. I am trying to find a particular job in a profession dominated, but somehow it never comes out. Still, more than a year, współprowadzę show "Wilderness" in Radio stations - which in turn thanks to Martin Haddock, a Duck. I run the music department Valkirii. From time to time I write columns "zwJeRzenia" for Ignatius slipper - first went to the website, "Portal", last hit the "poltergeist". I Opened a couple of short stories and novels, but after recent events, I lack energy and motivation to a decent sitting on them. One complete story - "Pearl pyramid" - is waiting to print in an anthology devoted to Lovecraftowi. I also have a few ideas related to the RPG and other games - the most important of them will take place in cooperation with Bartek Lisowski. Well, I dream of running a program dedicated to the author's film music. All this, however, written with your finger on the water.

Letter Crow remember through the fog, the more that I was searching for him for some time ... Given unless the two numbers (including one double (?)). What was your role, where the idea for a magazine devoted to horror? Zoom my readers to the project, as far as possible. Can someone not long ago he mentioned something about the possibility of resurrecting the Raven?

three numbers were published in the letter, of which the latter was twofold. In the first two I was one of two editors of the letter (and also the chief editor was Witek Chwiłkowski), the third wrote the only editorial and an article about Tim Burton. One of my tasks were: the choice of stories that followed to the letter (authors typował Witek, I chose specific texts), writing the stories and some other texts, and of writing wstępniaków. I am happy too much that I convinced Switch to the second issue was published in Milosz's poem Brzezinski, pt. "Son of the trees."

Personally I love Poe, but no I do not like the prose of HP Lovecraft. Maybe this is ridiculous, but Call of Cthulhu (RPG) I love, and even funnier - they never drove (though I wanted), but about the game I'd rather not mention. Tell us a little about your fascinations of horror literature. What do you think such a King, Mastertonie, or about the author's novel Call of shrimping; Smithcie ;-). And can he write something?

Initially my contact with all varieties of horror was almost zero - that is, I knew as much as the case caught my eye and ear. Funny that with this rudimentary knowledge, I managed to win the competition of knowledge about the horror of one of the "Saturdays with fantasy," and won my first posób Guide to the 'call of Cthulhu "- even if I did not read a single book in this genre, and I watched a few movies. When I started working in the "Raven", became interested in it all the more, and only then I began to appreciate this work. Much of the credit Switch, which depended on the fact that "The Raven" was really ambitious and valuable letter and was able to consistently pursue this target.

still my contact with the horrors carried out mainly by the films. As for the book - I read "Tales of amazing," Poe and a few other texts Gothic horror writers (LeFanu, Bierce, James) - I really liked these things. Best are the texts of St. Grabińskiego. With creativity, I know Lovecraft and his followers a short story, "Music of Erich Zanna, had a huge impression on me. King does not read - I watched a few movies and miniseries based on his work and things were good. Likewise, only know from movies Barker. For authors such as Masterton, Lumley, and Smith reached for all, so hard for me to speak. From each other even throw in a great "Land of Shadows" by Peter Straub. I wrote up to now two stories, which can be classified as horror literature. The first is "Twilight" - a miniature, which appeared in "Labyrinth" # 6 Anthology, which is to appear "Pearl pyramid has not yet appeared.

Call of Cthulhu was the first such an ambitious scheme issued on the Polish market. What do you think he has had an impact on the Polish players? Do you think that something has changed in the approach to the idea of \u200b\u200bRPG? How do you rate this great, in my opinion, the game? Which affected the popularity of such a large system? What is the role played in the popularization of people like Milosz, or great graphic artists Hubert and Peter Tchaikovsky Freak (and others)? What is your opinion, continue to develop this game? Do you think that center takes over the baton in Gliwice (Faktoria, De profundis)?

will try to answer in turn. It seems to me that, as the Polish conditions, Call of Cthulhu is a system quite special. Other erpegi had experienced its ups and downs - moments of ups and downs of sudden popularity of interest, and ZC continuously and systematically being built its position and the fanbase. It seems to me that the strength of this game lies in the consistency with which it is created - new editions and add-ons emerging or re-introduced over the years and meticulously refined until perfection. This is the case, when success was achieved, rather than Launched.

In Poland, Milosz merit, the team from Gliwice and other authors is that the system remains in the shadow of thrust in the spotlight. Thanks to their efforts, Call of Cthulhu, without ceasing to be an ambitious scheme, he became at once popular. And so should look its further development. There is only one thing I regret in connection with the presence of ZC in our country, namely the fact that the Polish material for this game - Labyrinth No. 6 and De Profundis - have been somehow ignored by the players (or so it seems if you look at sales figures.) Taking this into account, I wonder whether and how to roll further fate of the X Division

How did she react to the fact Warsaw Uprising statement Portal? Shoe after he wrote to the MiM-a. How do you receive this letter? How is it different from the MiM-a - what is better and then worse?

I have a problem, how to answer this question, so that did not work out that I want to play for Tom Kreczmarze for having released me from the MiM-a. You've got to just believe the word that is not because I write this. The fact is that he and the crew of the MiM-a portal simply ignored - treated as a temporary phenomenon that will fall after a few numbers, and unable to threaten the positions of MiM-a. Meanwhile, I watched as Ignatius and the company promotes the writing conventions, and raise people how much energy they put in it and I was a different opinion. It was one of the many things that spieraliśmy in the editor. How these disputes are over, for me, we all know.

My relationship with the Portal team - at least with that part, I know - they are the best. Anyway, the whole conflict between MiM and portal-em was more artificial fabrication, rozdmuchiwanym by low sensation seekers than something existing in reality. Just read the editorial even Ignatius to the Portal # 4 But apart from the will and desire of the two editors, the appearance of second title in the market environment has led to polarization. As if it was not possible to read and enjoy both titles simultaneously. Pros and cons? First the pros. First and foremost, people. The team associated with this release and the letter is a great artist, whose talent and creativity are appreciated also abroad. Secondly, the reputation of that portal themselves at the outset developed - the letter novel, an ambitious project which presents the text at a high level. The first impression is very important, and in his case it was so good that tied people together. Thirdly, the format and graphic design. We appreciate the work of Michael Ploughman and fabulous Charlie. Fourth, determination and energy of people who create and promote the letter. In turn, the problems with which the portal can be bothered, I spoke with Ignacy long - during our first meeting (perhaps even one day of this writing). Unfortunately, now is, what if I told him, checked, and I feel stupid in the role of Cassandra - regardless of whether my predictions turn out to be correct in relation to the MiM-a, or Portal. First, he threw a portal for many good things for the first fire and set the bar very high, leaving no reserve strength for later, ie at a time when the letter would have to win over the market. Second, too many magpies łapanych by the tail at the same time - Portal as a publisher did not manage to stabilize financially, when its resources have been invested in new, risky ventures - trading house Frankenstein, De Profundis, Baron Munchausen, The Lord of Winter, a quart. As for any of these things (despite their high level) was not sure whether they could earn for themselves, and the publisher did not have enough "reserve budget" to just stand their defeat. Now, this reflected the frequency of appearance of the basic product, namely the statement Portal.

Do not you think that MiM has long since lost its revolutionary spirit and innovation? New Wave to Gliwice. I have not seen that letter twisted adventure (as Dom, and Senne phantom for example), or text in an amazing style of "Shortcut to ..." Milosz Brzezinski?

Some time ago, MiM fell victim to some bad decisions and a series of failed experiments. When his popularity began to decline, rather than systematic approaches to the problem, they began to act nervously at random. But here I must explain the matter more. From the press (not least) is such that almost every change entails a temporary decline in readership. Just a man who has a habit of buying the title, something suddenly gets to a certain extent new, and automatically subjected to evaluation. In some of these people the assessment is positive - but it does not increase readership - they will simply read further. In other to evaluate the change is negative and conclude that we should not continue to go after this title. Some specific changes - change (especially reduction) format, logo or graphic design, volume reduction, picture some regular departments - produce especially strong reactions. Therefore, any such change must be made slowly, carefully, and the reader must be ready for it. Moreover, all this must be continuously supported an additional promotion to the letter reached the new people, which will offset the decline in readership. These things belong to the elementary knowledge of shaping the image for the press. Meanwhile MIM-ie, more than two years the changes followed one after another, without being able to make it even harder - and suddenly changed the format and logo, then the volume decreased, falling out the next sections, there were others who also disappeared, changing the proportions of individual components. In short, everything has happened, which in itself causes a decrease readership, and there was virtually nothing that raised her. In addition, MiM has a small font and easier on the eyes when reading - even the best articles are then perceived differently. How to pick the pieces it all together, it that the letter may not even lose drastically in content, but it is perceived in this way, because people can not find things in it have grown accustomed to. Once, after careful assessment, I proposed to the college editorial solution that would return to the roots of the letter - to the character, to which readers were the most attached to. This would be a one-time change, but it consists not so much on zaserwowaniu new formula, which the odgrzebaniu old, tried and tested solutions. I have been ridiculed.

As chief Erpegowca prepare the largest number of texts. On What is the editorial work? Why does not The supply of texts MiMi Kreczmar, Milosz, Szrejtera etc. ..? Anyway, your in recent times, many were not there? Is it burnout, boredom?

editorial work in my case frequented vary, depending on where it was I carried out. But mostly it was about picking and choosing the best possible texts and their stylistic development. Sometimes there have to write comments, introductions. It looked a bit different in the communications department MiM-a - it's better for me because I did not have to wrangle with the people, only with the texts. To tell the truth rarely gets to me is someone who really good to me to work with - people are punctually, and carelessly disregard their obligations. As to why, in MiM-e will not find texts mentioned by you people - I suppose I have too many other responsibilities, to write as much as ever. There is more about burnout or boredom, but a lack of time. For example, I greatly regret all the time that Andrew Miszkurka not moved so far and the world system that came up. I think this would be the most original thing that came out in Poland when it comes to RPGs. But he has other things on their minds. As for me - I never wrote much, and now in addition to whom I did not really give me the lyrics. Especially if you want anything to make money.

What is your opinion about the market, with erpegowcach as a customer? Is the recession and the crisis affecting readership equally RPG and fantasy? Is it wrong? And if so, what can improve the situation?

the market in general is very bad. In Poland, came out a lot of systems, but not very much is someone to buy them. Do you have something like a saturated solution. If you want to go with something new, you must first order larger environment. In addition, players are largely students, whose financial resources are not usually too high and the prices of textbooks (or books in general), which forces the publishers present situation in the country, each new item in the collection is already a significant expense. As if this were not enough, the environment in Poland, made a name for himself fansites not yet reflex support their hobby. Those who even afford to buy textbooks, it does not always do that - they prefer to borrow, photocopy. For this is an awful lot of criticism from us - you can do something the best as you can, but enough minor defect and you're gnojony.

And of course, remains a problem that has long been militant, namely dividing the environment. I'm talking both about RPGraczach as wider fandom. I know not what you would use the arguments that people finally understand that together we can do more than separately. But in such situations usually prevail, unfortunately sick ambition, pettiness, jealousy. It's not all the problems that exist, but the most serious cases. What can I do to fix it? First, use the opportunity afforded by the growing wave of popular fiction and draw on the good in this species and on the occasion of the RPG as many new people. This requires the active solicitation of the people. Second, convince the environment that fantasy is not frivolous issue and deserves the respect enjoyed by the world. Not without reason in the top twenty most successful films of all time, fifteen represent just the genre. Thirdly, to act jointly and not separately. This is of course, but probably the hardest to achieve. Here, success was achieved Eugeniusz Debski, when flesh out the idea of \u200b\u200bAPPF-u. It has been only a few years and Silver Globe became the second most important prize in the Polish literature fantastic.

are running (acted) in various associations. Here in Tychy trying to set up a science fiction club. What can you advise us where to start, what to avoid? Do you immediately push the court to the statute, or rather wait and see in action as the product of an informal? What would you like next Fandomowcom say?

Statute law is needed only if you have plans to act as a formal institution and deal with anything as such - the organization of events, rental of premises, etc., etc. If the club is to be fiction only a group of friends with common interests, you can leave alone. Especially if that class is smooth.

in Warsaw is a pub, where for many years (with short breaks in other places) every Thursday night meet-sheep RPG and fantasy lovers. Nobody never formalized, but you can be sure that even if you disappeared from the environment for a few years and after all this time you walk into a pub on Thursday night, where you will meet someone he knew. There tend to be writers, translators, editors, but most is just the players.

Define the word please fandom (because The supply of dictionaries is not)? What do you mean I belong to a fandom?

For me it is simply a lovers fantasy environment. A belong to a fandom, then give up in this environment. Thus, for example, say that although Lem made fantasy, it is for the fandom does not belong. This is about the manifestation of any activity - even in society. And perhaps above all a social?

In my town reveals several fanzines rpg, but I would like you to presented several titles from the Polish. Those who for some reason consider to be interesting and worth recommending? Just try to characterize the web magazine of the good and bad on their part? Is there anything else im missing?

hard for me to say anything about this, because I basically do not come to me, no fanzines. I read constantly, "Monthly" Silesian Fantasy Club, and "Phantom" - when it comes out. And the last fanzine erpegowym what hit me was the "Arkham Courier" - a year ago. That is why I prefer not to expose any assessments here, because my knowledge of this subject is not too great. For sure, "Monthly" and "Phantom," I appreciate very much, but although these things are done just tinkering, then make them professionals - hence the high level. For example, in any letter fantastic uwidzisz in Poland is not so rich as the news department in the magazine. " The same is true when it comes to the Internet - I have my permanent foothold, which rarely Valkirię and points out the nose somewhere else. I think that many people have similar habits in relation to whether or not other places in the network and therefore are also been to seek consolidation. If one could combine the most popular web sites devoted to fantasy on a large site, it would lower costs, increased the attractiveness of for advertisers, drew people (artists and audience), etc. But so what, if anyone does not want to go about it?

Imagine a situation: in the morning wakes you phone, and a voice from the handset says: George, after today, driving, why are you still there? In other words, if you have any way to instantly come up with adventures? I think of something meaningful and possibly non-linear? Do not accept the answer: pull out of the drawer an old adventure and do not run today, hang up etc.. :).

I mix in the district, which access to most guys it takes me an average of 45 minutes to an hour and a half. I think something along the way wykombinowałbym. Very rarely is the champion and a great part of my ideas for the scenarios is still stuck in my head and was not used. In addition, sometimes actually comes to a similar situation when I have before me a show, and surprisingly, it appears that falls on me turn driving scenes.
completely
A long, long time ago there was anything else. In those days, as one of the few people in Poland, driving a system of "Toon". Maybe with one exception, I never prepared myself for the session. The scenario draws already in the presence of players using the generator located at the end of one of the textbooks - for me personally it was an absolute surprise. But what if wyczyniałem with the "Toon" It's a long story. Suffice it that the convention "Summer of the RPG" I happened to lead the session ... sleep. I was trzynastogodzinnym, all-night gaming marathon, and I had saved a team to animate. Well, during the session, and every now and then I fell asleep - woke up only when I fell limp head and short flashes of consciousness dopowiadałem what is happening. Players react somehow, and I at that time back I lost consciousness. So it was for about 45 minutes. At the end I concluded that it makes no sense, I finished the story in so far as I could need one rozpisanym NPC-I and apologized for the players that gave the stain. Then I heard "What are you talking about? Was horny." Then I fell asleep on the bus on his way back home. The story had its second end a few months ago: I learned from Yaahooza that he played with me and then he could inquire about the content of the game - he was amazed what I led.

say that I am 14 year old, who played more than a year. I want to be a good GM, I want to develop. What does he say? To what sources you refer them (answer: The Witcher buy and read the Book of Storyteller - can not be the only one.)

Ha, but I did not refer you to textbooks RPG! First, to mobilize you to read at all - a lot of deliberation from different disciplines (not just science fiction.) Then convince to take an interest in arts and culture, movies and series, various genres of music, etc., etc. First, it will absorbed and prospered - mainly intellectually, and then you will do with the benefit of the RPG. Acquiring knowledge of a typical Master Games Workshop is a completely different kettle of fish, and also it is a tedious job, but first you have to then go to the people.

What would you say Erpegowca readers - and maybe even his editors. You have a free hand.

Of all the things that pass by the thought of me now, unless I want to share one in particular (even if they sound a bit pathetic). One of my guiding thoughts in life reads "Change the world before someone else does it for you." Take this to heart. Do not let them tell you that the world can not change - you try to convince those who own it are constantly changing for the worse.

Thank you. Hold on.

Thanks. You also do not let
